Educate, Equip, Empower.

We envision a prosperous Canada in which all people have the knowledge and confidence to harness the power of technology to achieve economic and personal fulfillment.

Our mission is to design, deliver and partner on technology education programs for Canadians with a special emphasis on reaching communities that are underrepresented in the technology sector.

The new Canadian landscapes are digital.

At Canada Learning Code, we believe that digital skills are tools of empowerment. Our goal is to ensure that all Canadians – particularly women, girls, people with disabilities, Indigenous youth and newcomers – who have been historically underrepresented in the sector are given equal opportunity to build our future.

Our Vision

icon-1unify

We are champions for coding education in Canada, driving results through program design and delivery, strategic industry and public partnerships, educator training, research, advocacy and awareness.

icon-2equip

We aim to empower Canadians in every province and territory to develop computational thinking abilities, through code and other digital skills, equipping them to become creators – not just consumers – of technology.

icon-3diversity

We believe that diversity is Canada’s strength and everyone should be given equal opportunity to learn critical 21st century skills. Our goal is to level the educational playing field to drive innovation.

Diversity is our strength.

These statistics are combined from all of our educational programs since 2011.

Offers beginner-friendly workshops for adults who want to learn computer programming and other technical skills in a social, collaborative way.

Our adult programming offers hands-on, project-based learning experiences that are designed to give beginners the skills and confidence they need to become digital creators.

Our workshops and educational events are open to adults of all ages. Workshops cover everything from introductory HTML & CSS, to WordPress, Python, Ruby, web design and more and are all hands-on and project based.. They are especially popular and successful because of the 4:1 ratio of students to volunteer mentors at every workshop, which is only possible because of overwhelming support from the technology and startup communities in the Chapter cities in which we operate.

Designed specifically for girls ages 6 to 13 to help them see technology as a medium for self-expression, and a means for making an impact on the world.

Girls Learning Code programs encourage girl-identified learners to foster an interest in technology and understand there is a place for them in science, technology, engineering and math fields. We run week-long camps, after school programs, workshops and “We’ll Take Your Kids to Work” days where we expose girls to the technology industry and the possibility it holds. Through mentorship - there’s a ratio of 4:1 learners to each industry expert, girls are surrounded with role models and support to learn how technology can be used as a tool to change the world.

Provides an opportunity for youth between the ages of 6 and 13 to work collaboratively in a fun and innovative learning environment.

As Girls Learning Code grew in popularity, we began receiving inquiries from parents looking for learning opportunities for all children. In response to this community need, Kids Learning Code was created. Like Girls Learning Code, these programs are beginner-friendly, hands-on and fun providing opportunities for youth to build and not just consume technology. Our 4:1 ratio of youth learners to mentors is maintained with balanced numbers of male and female mentors. Programs cover a variety of topics from programming languages like HTML & CSS and Ruby, to image editing and blog creation, to 3D printing to hardware hacking with arduinos and more.

Offers teens ages 13–17 an introduction to code while also teaching valuable leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills through workshops and industry events.

Our educational program for youth between the ages of 13 and 17 years old is about much more than learning to code! The goal of this program is to help young people build the technical skills, soft skills, confidence, and communities that will propel them forward in their future personal and professional endeavours. High school students are encouraged to join the Teen Club to be invited to attend technical workshops, industry field trips and volunteer opportunities all year round that will help them to envision and prepare for a future in technology.

Demystifies coding for non-technical educators in grades K through 12 and empowers them to implement technical learning in their classrooms.

This program aims to empower traditional and nontraditional educators to introduce coding into their classrooms and communities. Program content has been inspired by our experiences teaching thousands of youth across Canada to code, and informed by the insights gathered through this work. Our workshops for educators provide hands-on experiences with various technologies and coding languages to provide a foundational understanding of how to introduce the concepts to students. Our freely available lessons and activities provides hundreds of examples of how to integrate coding into any subject with students K through 12. Together with teachers and non-traditional educators, we will inspire the next generation of Canadian technologists.
